Exclusive Interview - Tobi Atkins

Tobi Atkins plays Henry Hunter
Via: E-mail

Had you done any acting prior to Home and Away?
I was in the musical "Oliver" and had done some acting classes but not much.

Can you give any Home and Away Central any spoilers on Home and Away?
I'm afraid I can't do that as it's part of our contract to keep all the H&A secrets to ourselves!  Sorry!!!

Which cast members do you socialise with? Are you close to Indiana Evans?
Indie and I get along really well - she's a really nice girl and very quiet.  If I had a sister in real life, I'd be pretty happy if it was Indie. I also like all the other cast members a lot, but guess I spend more time with Mark Furze, Kip Gamblin and Chris Hemshaw as we all like surfing.

If your character could have a superhero power, what would it be?
Lightning coming out of my guitar.

So how do you juggle school and acting?
Juggle is the word for sure - sometimes it gets really hard, especially now I'm in Year 10, but I usually get all my assignments in on time.

What school did you go to before you were on Home and Away?
My primary school was Loquat Valley Prep at Bayview and now I go to ??? in Dee Why.  Sorry, can't give too much away!

What do your friends think of you becoming famous through Home and Away?
They're cool with it and don't treat me any different - but must admit some of the girls get a bit carried away about it, which has it's annoying moments...

Is your daily schedule tough?
Sometimes it is, depends on the day - some weeks I may only film one or two days and other days it's full on - it's trying to fit in the school work and doing all the catch up that gets tough.

So you prefer studio or location filming?
Location is fun when it's at Palm Beach and I get some time off to have a quick surf.

What do you do in between scenes?
School work and play guitar and study my lines.

Do you prefer dancing or acting?
To be honest, my real passion is playing guitar and writing songs, don't really dance that much any more, and of course acting in H&A has been a blast and I've learnt a lot.

How did you feel when you were accepted on Home and Away?
Thought my mum was joking when she told me I'd got the role - never expected it but sure was happy.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Either working as a musician or possibly in a sound recording studio?  I hope to go to the conservatorium of music once I've done HSC.

Would you like to end up in Hollywood when you are older?
Who wouldn't!  But not living on the street I hope!

Do you have any pets?
Yes, a boxer dog called Banjo who is under my feet right at this moment.

If you would switch bodies with any person in the universe, who would it be?
Eddie Van Halen 'cos he's the world's greatest guitarist.

Favourite Actor?
Jack Nicholson

Favourite Band?
Van Halen

Favourite Song?
Erotic dreams by Steve Vai

Favourite Food?
Japanese

Do you have a girlfriend?
Wouldn't you like to know!!!

As you become more experienced as an actor, does learning your lines become easier?
I'm still pretty hopeless but yeah, it does.

What's the best thing about working on Home and Away?
Time off school!

Do you have any siblings, if yes what ages and what are their names?
Joey and he's nearly 12.

As you are nominated in the "Most Popular New Male Talent" is there any rivalry there between Mark Furze, Chris Hemsworth and Jason Smith? Home and Away Central also wishes you the best of luck!
No, but everyone's out to be in the final nominations - thanks for the best of luck message by the way!  However did just find out some good news which is I've been nominated for "Young Entertainer of the Year" for the Variety Heart Awards which is next

• Announcement - 23 September 2007•
After an extended 9 months, it's time for Home and Away Central to officially close. Most of you know I was planning to close late last year than I gave you all a Christmas Surprise I haven't put a date to it yet but in 4 weeks time I start year 12 so there will be less updating. Depending on the workload, it might close as soon as a month, if not the end of the year. The site and gallery will close as it takes a while to update everyday, but the forum will stay open as it. Thanks to all the 1500+ visitors who visit HAAC each day. I'll let you all know when I decide on a date!
