Kate Ritchie joined Nova's breakfast radio show • 16 Nov 2007

Home and Away starlet Kate Ritchie will leave Summer Bay to take up radio hosting duties with Merrick and Rosso(pictured with Kate this morning at the announcement in Sydney Harbour) on Nova next year.

Ritchie, who announced in September she would finish up filming on the popular teen soap in December after 20 years, will join the comic duo on their breakfast show from January 2008.

"I'm feeling really excited," Ritchie told AAP. "I've always wondered what the next thing would be for me after Home and Away, and it's really nice to tell everybody and be really happy about it."

Ritchie had a taste of radio earlier this year when she co-hosted the drive show with comedian Akmal Saleh in place of actor Matthew Newton.

She said that experience has given her a bit more confidence coming into the new job. "Anything new is always going to be daunting," she said. "I am glad that earlier in the year I did a bit of work in the drive time slot with Akmal and I got a little bit of a feel for it. "I would have been freaking out had that not been the case."

Ritchie's new co-hosts, Merrick Watts and Tim Ross, have regularly chatted to the 29-year-old on the show, but are looking forward to having her join them full time. "I'm personally excited about Kate joining because over the years it got a little hard to pretend we watched the show," Rosso joked. Merrick said he hoped Ritchie would bring talent and some new stories to the program.

The 2007 Gold Logie winner admitted one of the biggest challenges would be opening up and sharing a bit of herself with listeners. "For 20 years I've told someone else's story and have been given a script every day," she said. "What I found hardest at first is in some ways exposing yourself a little bit and telling your own story. "I'd better go out there over the holidays and get a bit of life experience so I've got something to talk about."

Ritchie received her last stack of scripts for Home and Away this week, and said she was pleased with how Sally Fletcher was written out of the show. But she isn't giving anything away. "I am actually happy with it. It's very fitting," she said. While not revealing whether Sally dies or not, she hasn't ruled out reappearing on the show sometime in the future. "Even if you die on a show like Home and Away it doesn't mean you can't come back," she laughed.
"Yeah, with her two cousins from Shepparton," Merrick added.

Former Home and Away cast member, Isabel Lucas is campaign spokesperson for the 'Save The Whales Again' organisation.

Campaign spokespersons Hayden Panettiere, Isabel Lucas, Dave Rastovich, and Jeff Pantukhoff have just returned from Taiji where their actions resulted in worldwide media coverage of the cruel and barbaric dolphin drive fisheries. Help us keep the pressure on!!!

Isabel and the 'Save The Whales Again' organisation are asking for thousands of people to gather on Bondi Beach from 2-5pm Friday November 16 to participate in a "SAVE THE WHALES AGAIN!" Rally and create a unique aerial art image to bring attention to the plight of the Australian Humpback whales and the more than 1,000 whales that are being threatened by the Japanese Whaling fleet. A press conference at 2pm will kick off the event.

Tomorrow, special guests will include "Save the Whales Again!" Campaign spokespersons Isabel Lucas, pro surfer Dave Rastovich and others who will join internationally renowned Aerial Artist John Quigley and "Save the Whales Again!" Campaign founder Jeff 'Whaleman' Pantukhoff in the creation of a giant Human Humpback Whale and conservation message which will be photographed from the air.

There is a growing international movement of enforcement of International whaling laws. Participants in the event will be standing up and calling on the Australian Government to stand up to Japan and stop this illegal hunting. In addition, we are calling upon Australian?s and the citizens of the world to NOT purchase anything from the whaling nations of Japan, Norway and Iceland until they stop killing dolphins and whales.

The event is being sponsored by the Save The Whales Again! Campaign, the Whaleman Foundation, Spectral Q, Surfers For Cetaceans, and others.

Sports greats, actors, TV presenters and a musician have flexed their creative muscles to produce a collection of colourful masterpieces for children who have been the victims of violence.

Shane Warne, James Hird, Scott Lucas, Livinia Nixon, Giaan Rooney, Nadine Garner, Shane Bourne, John Bertrand, Vanessa Amorosi, Kim Watkins and Rhys Wakefield have created the brilliant original works for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

Proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to the foundation, which runs programs for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation is a national charity keeping children safe from violence. They care for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence and run programs which help prevent violence in the lives of children. In 2007 the Foundation celebrates 10 years of caring.

A message from Rhys on his painting: “My painting represents two seasons. It’s autumn leaves under wintry snow, with true colours shining through. It’s a new season, with last season underneath. The opportunity to support the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and their amazing cause is a pleasure.”

Rent The Musical Opens In Bunbury • 09 Nov 2007

Tim Campbell jokes that on screen, he is like Andrew OKeefe; on stage, he is OKeefes late uncle, legendary Australian rocker Johnny OKeefe.

Campbell is in Perth to star in a WA-only production of the award-winning musical Rent but has become almost as omnipresent on the small screen as Seven Network co-star OKeefe through his role as Dan Baker on Home and Away, competing in the last season of Dancing with the Stars and as host of the hit new game show, National Bingo Night.

"Im having a competition with Andrew OKeefe and Grant Denyer to see who can be on the most shows in a year," says Campbell. "Andrew will win. Its only a $20 bet but all of Australia has to put up with it."

Campbell, 32, has also been working on a TV travel series in Tasmania with Better Homes and Gardens chef Ed Halmagyi.

After Rent ends its Perth run (it has already played in Bunbury), hes off to Melbourne to begin rehearsing for the musical Shout, in which he plays Johnny OKeefe.

Enjoying a day off from rehearsals, Campbell spent Melbourne Cup day at Ascot Racecourse with his Rent co-stars Anthony Callea and Nikki Webster.

After being approached by female fans calling out "Bingo Man", Campbell admits the attention he gets has changed in the few weeks National Bingo Night has been on air. "It started off being youre Leahs husband, then I got promoted to Dan, now I have definitely had Bingo Man, he says.

Campbell filmed this season of National Bingo during a production break from Home and Away. He finished his three-year stint on the show about a month ago but Dan will be seen on air until the end of this month when the show goes into summer hiatus.

Highlights of his time on the soapie include getting to sing at Leah and Dans wedding and storylines where Dan dealt with a gambling problem, although at last years Melbourne Cup, it led to people shouting at him "Dan put your money away".

Its not exactly a secret that Campbell has left the show; so just how does Dan leave? "The storyline on air at the moment is the American woman it looked like he was having an affair with, he met her on a school excursion," Campbell says. "She thought he was a great counsellor and offered this job. Basically he gets the job overseas. What happens after that, I dont know."

Campbell has been a popular performer at events including Telethon and Carols in the Domain but says he only recently started feeling comfortable calling himself a singer.

"One of the reasons for leaving Home and Away was to try to do more hosting, musicals and things like that.

"To go from Dan on Home and Away to playing Roger in Rent, as a performer it is kind of chalk and cheese but something I wanted to do."

H&A Central : Closing 18th November • 01 Nov 2007

Home and Away Central will be closing officially for good on 18 November 2007. As most of you know, I am 16 years old and currently starting year 12 my final year of high school. As a result of this, I must close the site as I spend way too much time updating (so says my Mum). I was meant to close late last year in 2006, except I convinced my Mum to let me keep the site open for another few months - up until now which I have to close because this actually is my final year now.

Lots of you will also know Julz who has helped me update the site with articles over the last few months. Sadly Julz will be leaving Home and Away Central from today. She has her major exams creeping up on her in a few weeks, so will officially leave the website now. I wish to thank Julz for all her work put into Home and Away Central over the last few months as I couldn’t have kept it open without her.

Updates until the 18th of November will remain the same. The site and gallery will close but the forum will stay open so please join the Home and Away fans community. I will still be the administrator of the forum, so I am not very far away :)

Thankyou again to all the visitors who have visited Home and Away Central; the site, forum and gallery each day. The site wouldn't have been running without you all.

Isabel Lucas goes to Japan to save the whales • 01 Nov 2007

Former Home and Away cast member Isabel Lucasflew to Japan to join a high-profile protest in Japan at the site where thousands of pilot whales are slaughtered every year.

She joined other celebrities - including Hayden Panettiere from the television show Heroes - and professional surfers to form a floating circle on surf boards offshore near the coastal village of Taiji. The pre-dawn protest was staged in recent days and it sparked a heated confrontation with local fishermen.

"They (the fishermen) kept revving their engines and driving towards us," Lucas says in footage released by the protest group to the Australian media. Reflecting on the day’s experience, a somber Isabel Lucas said, “The worst part is that whales are probably all dead by now. We couldn’t save these whales but hopefully shining the light on their deaths will save others.”

I have added some pics of Isabel in Japan for the great cause of saving whales and dolphins to the gallery here

Jodi, Indiana's Bondi bolt

HOME and Away babes Jodi Gordon and Indiana Evans did the bolt from their Summer Bay home yesterday, much to the approval of fans in Bondi.

Gordon, the girlfriend of Channel Seven heir Ryan Stokes, and Evans made quite the splash on Campbell Pde where they spent the morning filming for the Seven soap.

As the episode won't air until next year, a Home and Away publicist was reluctant to give away the plot, other than it was a story line detailing the Summer Bay stunners living it up in the big smoke. Flamin' hell!

Honey - Lynne McGranger • 26 Sep 2007

* Honey: will be held on Saturday, October 20 to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
* Tickets: cost $40 or $30 student and concession.
* Venue: The show starts at 8pm at the Riverside Theatres, Church St, Parramatta.
* Bookings: phone Ronia at The Leukaemia Foundation on 9902 2222.

LYNNE McGranger was a teenager when the Vietnam War was dominating the headlines.

It caused barely a ruffle on her horizon but the Hills actor now has a deep appreciation of what the returning veterans had to endure.

She is currently juggling her commitments as Irene the foster mum in the long-running Channel 7 soapie Home and Away with rehearsals for the stage show Honey which opens at the Riverside Theatres next month.

The play centres around a Vietnam vet whose daughter, Honey, is diagnosed with leukemia which is linked to an Agent Orange incident during his Vietnam service.

"It's funny, gut-wrenching and thought provoking,'' McGranger says. "I am thoroughly enjoying rehearsals. It's fantastic getting back to the theatre.'' McGranger plays the mum in Honey and it's as far removed from her much-loved role of Irene as you can get. "She's in her `60s, crippled with arthritis and very grumpy,'' McGranger says.

Honey has been a labour of love for Australian legend and Gold Logie winner Lorrae Desmond who has promoted the cause of the ``forgotten diggers'' for 30 years, after five tours of Vietnam.

When she read Bryce Courtenay's book Smoky Joe's Cafe six years ago her idea for Honey started to build.

With Courtenay's blessing she approached Gael Ballantyne (Mamma Mia and La Cage aux Folles) and musicians Charlie Hull, Martine DeCock, Scott Ogier and Doug Parkinson to work on a script and score that would mix mateship, humour and music to create something special.

McGranger says the play achieves just that as Thommo and his mates all Vietnam vets band together to raise money for Honey to have a bone marrow transplant. "It is amazingly uplifting,'' she promises.

Honey will run at Riverside Theatres Parramatta from October 18 to November 3. For showtimes and bookings, call 8839 3399.

Jessica stopped going to malls • 26 Sep 2007

JESSICA Tovey has stopped going to shopping malls. As with most women, Tovey still loves to shop, but the soap star has learned to avoid places where teen girls like to hang out. The last time she went shopping she was chased by a pack of autograph-hungry schoolgirls. Tovey, 19, joined Home and Away as the feisty Belle Taylor in 2006.

She was nominated for the most popular new talent Logie this year, but lost to co-star Amy Matthews.

Tovey, who has a striking resemblance to Hollywood fashionista Mischa Barton, is rumoured to be dating co-star Bobby Morley, who plays her onscreen boyfriend Drew Curtis.

But she will not confirm the relationship, saying she likes to keep her "private life private''.

As her character's popularity grows, she admits it is becoming increasingly difficult to do that.

Tovey says her recent Katie Holmes-style bobbed haircut has given her more anonymity.

"They colour and cut our hair for us at work for continuity,'' she says. You can't just go out and cut your hair on a whim. Luckily my character's a bit more grunge so I can get away with cutting it.''

Tovey is relishing being part of the show she watched growing up.

"Belle is a really fun character to play. She's not quite a villain or the good girl; she's strong-willed and confident and she makes mistakes.''

Tovey also enjoys treading the boards and in June starred in Our Town with fellow Home and Away star Tim Campbell (Dan Baker).

Tim interview • 20 Oct 2007

MY BIG BREAK
20 October 2007
Daily Telegraph

Home And Away resident nice bloke Tim Campbell, who began acting while at high school, will host Channel 7's new game show National Bingo Night, which premieres tomorrow evening.

When did you decide you wanted to become an entertainer?
I was about 20 and decided not to go down the safe path. It's been so far so good.

What was your first acting gig?
It was a ``50-worder'' on Home And Away as Brad, a soccer player from Yabbie Creek.

How did you land it?
I had met the casting directors and they later offered me the role.

What do you consider was your big break?
It's a close toss-up between hosting Yogi's Fun And Fitness Show at Rockdale Plaza and Home And Away.

What do you like to do when not working?
Me, the couch, the remote, chocolate and wine have a lovely relationship.

What are your plans for the future?
TV drama, musical theatre and television hosting are the three loves I want to pursue. I'm hoping not to choose one.

National Bingo Night - Sunday, Seven, 6.30pm • 19 Oct 2007

National Bingo Night
14 October 2007
The Sunday Mail

TIM Campbell won't have the support of any of his former Home and Away cast mates when his new TV show premieres next Sunday -- not on camera, anyway.

Home and Away's Ada Nicodemou said she was planning a party to celebrate and support Campbell's new show, National Bingo Night which has cash prizes for Sunday Mail readers as well as contestants and studio audiences.

"I am going to get together a big group of people at my house. A few of the guys from the show will be there,'' said Nicodemou.

Nicodemou said she was highly competitive and considers herself a bit of a bingo shark, adding that she had picked up the game as a young child.

"I am really competitive, it is a really bad trait of mine,'' she said. The rules for National Bingo Night are simple.

The rules for National Bingo Night are simple. Three games are played in an episode with three different contestants trying their luck against the studio audience, while numbered balls are randomly selected from the bingo sphere.

The studio audience tracks the numbers on their own bingo cards for their chance to win big or send the contestant home with nothing.

The Sunday Telegraph readers also have a chance to win by matching numbers called out during the show with bingo cards that can only be found in next week's paper.

Tim's away from the Bay
6 October 2007
Daily Telegraph

BREAKING up is hard but Tim Campbell did it yesterday when he filmed his last scenes on Home and Away after 3 1/2 years.

``It's ony really hit me now I've made this decision and, knowing how hard it can be as an actor, I wonder if it is the right decision,'' Campbell told TV editor Marcus Casey.

``It's a fantastic place to work and the actors and crew are the nicest bunch to work with and I will miss the social aspect but I'm excited I have other work lined up.''

Campbell is heading to Perth for a six-week run in Rent before an extended season as Johnny O'Keefe in a new production of Shout in Melbourne and Sydney.

He will be on screen until the end of the year but it will be a messy departure as his character Dan is happily married to Ada Nicodemou.

``They did want me to stay on because Dan is safely married to Ada's character and it's an established relationship so it will be an unfortunate storyline,'' he said. `He doesn't get killed off -- he gets a job offer he can't refuse and leaves Summer Bay behind.'

Which of course leaves open the possibility of Dan one day returning home from being away.

National Bingo Night • 01 Oct 2007

National Bingo Night is expected to debut on Seven this month.

It is local version of a US format in which a studio audience plays against one contestant in a game based on bingo. Seven filmed a block of episodes at Fox Studios last month with actor Tim Campbell as host.

Campbell stars in Seven's Home and Away and was an early favourite (before a controversial defeat) in the last series of Dancing with the Stars.

The US version - in which viewers can download their own bingo cards and play along for prizes - had mixed results, coming third in its timeslot.

Kate moving to Melbourne? • 01 Oct 2007

COULD soon-to-be-former Home and Away actor Kate Ritchie be moving to Melbourne?

Sources told Confidential that Ritchie had signed a lease for an apartment in Melbourne near St Kilda Rd, and was planning to move south in December.

Ritchie has not regretted her decision to quit the show after 20 years. One of the hardest things was being in the spotlight.

``It was hard adjusting to people wanting to know about your life, especially when I was at school,'' she said. ``But as you get older you adjust to it, and I just feel completely blessed.''

Tim Campbell also leaving Home and Away • 30 Sep 2007

Home and Away favourite Tim Campbell is leaving the long-running soap.

Campbell, who has played Dan Baker in the show for the past three years, is swapping the sand and sun of Summer Bay for the stage.

Campbell, who is soon to be seen as host of new Channel 7 game show National Bingo Night, has signed on for a season of the popular show Rent in Perth.

But his star turn may come when he takes on the role of wild one Johnny O'Keefe in a revival of hit show Shout.

Campbell will head an all-star cast that will include Colleen Hewett, Glenn Shorrock, Mark Holden and John Paul Young.

The show will open at the State Theatre at the Arts Centre on January 4.

Tim Campbell is expected to depart the Home and Away set within days, though his character will be seen on-air until early next year.

Rhys Wakefield will leave the show later this year.

More on Kate leaving • 27 Sep 2007

Following yesterday's early morning announcement that Kate Ritchie will be leaving Home and Away after 20 years, it was followed by lots of interviews, photoshoots, filming at Collaroy beach and topped off last night with Kate attending the National Breast Cancer Foundation Party with her boyfriend.

You can watch Channel seven news interview Kate while filming at Collaroy beach yesterday here.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper interviewed Kate yesterday and you can watch the intervew here. Read Kate's interview with the official Home and Away website here

In 1988 Kate Ritchie, then aged 10, auditioned for the role of Sally Fletcher on the soap opera Home and Away , with her mum Heather by her side. At 6.30am yesterday Ritchie, now 29, arrived at the Sunrise studio in Martin Place to announce her plan to quit the show, her mother again at her side.

"It's funny. My parents are the opposite of stage parents. They haven't pushed themselves onto my career at all throughout the 20 years, but it was like those two moments were bookends. It was really nice having Mum there," she said.

After making her announcement on the Sunrise program, Kate went straight to a three-hour shoot at Collaroy Beach on Sydney's northern beaches(below right). "It was so nice going to work and having everybody know what is happening. I hated keeping such a big secret. What was even better was how happy everyone was for me."

Before announcing her plans, Ritchie said, she discussed the decision with her boyfriend, friends and family.

"I came to the decision earlier in the year and I guess when you say it out loud it becomes real," she said. "I have never once felt like this was the wrong decision. It's not something I decided overnight - it's been a long time coming."

Ritchie says she has no immediate plans, although she has an interest in architecture and design, as well as directing, writing and continuing to work as an actress: "There are so many things I am interested in at this stage, but I am going to wait and see what comes my way."

More worrying for the Home and Away star will be her last day on set, which she says will be "a very difficult day for me ... What I will probably be most sad about is having to say goodbye to Sally Fletcher, as silly as that may sound."

Now that she has told the world that Sally Fletcher will soon be gone, she believes she will enjoy her final months on Home and Away. "Now I can openly talk about it with everyone and I think the more I talk about it, the easier it's going to be," she said.

Now that speculation begins about how Sally will depart the show, "I think I'm more excited to find that out than anyone," she said.

She is also uncertain about being unemployed in an industry that has an unemployment rate of about 98 per cent. "The thought of unemployment has not really entered my head at this point, and I certainly didn't want to make the decision to stay with Home and Away for another 10 years out of fear. I have faith the universe will look after me."

Kate Ritchie announces she is leaving H&A • 26 Sep 2007

Long time Home and Away cast member Kate Ritchie who plays Sally Fletcher has officially announced on breakfast TV that she will leave the show after 20 years.

Kate made the decision to announce it today when "the time was right" on Sunrise breakfast show this morning.

You can watch the announcement which was made exclusively on Sunrise this morning below

"I was eight years old when I got the part of Sally and I'm now a 29-year-old woman who really needs to go out there and do something different."

She told AAP, it was back in May when she approached Seven Network head of drama, John Holmes, to inform him of her plans for the future. "It was about May, the week before the Logies actually, that I went to see John Holmes, and I voiced my feelings about wanting to finish up on the show," she said.

"I have been blessed with a job that I have loved for the past 20 years and I wouldn't take back one moment of my time on Home and Away but I feel that it is time for change. " "I'm lucky that Home and Away is like a second family to me, including John Holmes, even though he's my boss, and rather than be upset about it, he was really happy for me too." "My decision to leave the show was made a long time ago, and it's been really hard. I feel like I've been walking around with a big secret. "

"My decision to leave the show has not been made lightly and despite being sad to say goodbye I am excitedly looking forward to what will be the next chapter of my life."

Kate who won the 2006 TV Week Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress and the 2007 TV Week Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, said she had no immediate plans for her future and was first looking forward to a holiday. "I've tried to keep an open schedule, because, to be honest, maybe I just need a holiday," she said.

"I think now that people know I'm leaving, I'm relieved, and now is the time to sit down and have a good think about what's next. "My decision to leave the show was made a long time ago, and it's been really hard. I feel like I've been walking around with a big secret. "Now, I'm just glad I can be openly excited about what the future holds."

She said she had no desire to work in the United States but may consider a move to the UK, although work at home in Australia is her preferred option.
"I have been working for 20 years and to go to the US would be starting all over again, and rather than starting again I want to build on what I already have and I'd like to think that that's here at home in Australia with everybody that has supported me and who I love."

There is no one closer to Ritchie on the Home and Away set than Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart), who will be the only remaining original cast member on the show when she leaves. Ritchie said Meagher was among the first people she had informed of her decision, and called him this week to let him know there would be an announcement.

"He's at the Rugby World Cup, so I wanted him to know that when he got back into the country that people would know," she said. "He's really grown from being a father figure into being my friend, so I wouldn't think of doing anything without letting him know."

Kate finishes filming in December this year with her on screen character of Sally airing until April 2008.

Listen to a radio interview with Nova 969 (Merrick and Rosso) here and another radio interview with 2day fm's Kyle and Jackie O here

Home and Away Central wishes Kate all the best to explore new paths. You can see what other Home and Away fans have said about this by joining the forum talk here.

Exclusive Announcement on Sunrise tomorrow morning • 25 Sep 2007

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday), at 7:15am there will be an exclusive announcement on Sunrise breakfast show. There will be a major announcement from one of Australia's most loved young actors but no one knows who it is.

Who knows if its anyone to do with Home and Away but we can only keep tuned. The reason I post it is because Sunrise is the number 1 breakfast rating show and is on the same network as Home and Away. Who knows it may be Kate Ritchie as she is one of Australia's most loved actors proving that since she won the Gold Logie this year.

So keep tuned Wednesday morning at 7:15am on Sunrise (Channel 7) to see if the announcement has anything to do with Home and Away. I thought I would post it just in case.

Soap pair 'just good friends' • 24 Sep 2007

SOAPIE stars Bobby Morley and Natalie Blair have sparked rumours of a romance after being photographed leaving a Sydney bar together.

The network rivals had been partying at the Hilton Hotel with other Neighbours and Home and Away cast members on Saturday night before leaving the venue in a happy and seemingly affectionate mood at 1am.

But a rep for the Melbourne-based girl has denied the pair are anything but friends. "Nothing happened between Natalie and Bobby," the Channel 10 spokeswoman said. "They're just good friends. I think that's just good fun."
Despite showing on rival networks, Confidential understands the soapie stars regularly catch up when in each other's town. A Channel 7 publicist did not return calls yesterday.

There was no sign of Morley's Summer Bay co-star, Jess Tovey, whom he was rumoured to be in a relationship with this year. Blair has long had a soft spot for her Channel 7 colleagues - she was once engaged to Home and Away star Beau Brady.

Summer Bay to Hollywood • 24 Sep 2007

The golden sands of Summer Bay have become a breeding ground for Hollywood's next big stars. While long-running TV soap Home and Away enjoys ratings success locally, its former stars are running rings around their Hollywood competition by securing major film in multi-million dollar films.

Home and Away producer Cameron Welsh says the day Chris Hemsworth quit to chase superstardom overseas he knew he'd score a deal. "You knew instantly he was going to be big, just by the look of the guy,'' Welsh, 30, said. ``He has a great look and a brilliant voice and those things are really important and really valid skills. "It was great to stand by and watch him grow and it was no surprise when we learned he was getting roles over in the States weeks after finishing here.''

Isabel Lucas, 22, recently completed filming vampire thriller Daybrakers opposite Ethan Hawke and says the fast pace and long hours of a soap gives actors the tools they need to achieve big things. "It's like a fast-paced factory, you just churn out scene after scene and you need to be able to reach and get emotions then and there,'' she said. "There is a lot of pressure at the time, but it's the best training you could ever get.''

Site back from hiatus • 23 Sep 2007

Hey everyone

HAAC is back from its hiatus as I've finished all my exams (well one more), so we're back to normal updating now.

But I have to say that the site will close some time this year. After an extended 9 months, it's time for Home and Away Central to officially close. I haven't put a date to it yet but in 4 weeks time I start year 12 so there will be less updating. Depending on the workload, it might close as soon as a month, if not the end of the year. The site and gallery will close but the forum will stay open.

Thanks to all the 1500+ visitors who visit HAAC each day. I'll let you all know when I decide on a date!

Cancer Council's Girl's Night In fundraiser • 22 Sep 2007

A few days ago, Holly Brisley was at Pitt St mall for the Cancer Council's Girl's Night In fundraiser.

This year Holly is one of the celebrity ambassadors for the great cause. "I’m very excited to be part of the 2007 Girls Night In! I never need an excuse to catch up with my girlfriends, but now, for the whole month of October I have a very special one...

What a fantastic way to raise money! We really are doing it for the girls this time round, as all of the proceeds from this event will go towards, research and support for those suffering female cancers.

It doesn’t have to be a fancy affair, a catch up over tea and biscuits if you like, or you can go all out a put on a big party, whatever is right for you.

I have registered online and can’t wait to start planning my Girls Night In, I really hope you decide to hold one too!!"

Along with Amy Erbacher and Toni Pearen, the girls threw a pyjama party in the middle of Sydney city to champion the Cancer Council's annual Girls Night In fundraiser.

Jodi Gordon jetted into Perth last week for the annual Perth Fashion Festival. She took part in the celebrity Telethon fashion parade and also judged at the final Vivien’s Perth Model Search.

"The actress was off-limits backstage, as she had an apparent deal with The West Australian that prevented her from being photographed anywhere but on stage. She finally appeared, looking very tanned in a perfect white frock from Zanthus, with a pearl neckpiece and earrings from Koro that were intended to be her only auction items. But her Zanthus dress was accidentally auctioned, too – to the tune of $1,200." She wore a pearl neckpiece and earrings, from Koro which auctioned for $4,000.

Kochie's scene to be aired on Thursday • 09 Sep 2007

Sunrise's David Koch appears on Home and Away this Thursday, fulfilling a lifelong dream to appear on the soap.

After playing an Elvis impersonator in All Saints, Kochie was less than impressed with being just a mute extra in the diner, so producers relented and let him utter two immortal words: "Yeah, sure".

Having just been announced Father Of The Year, let's hope he wasn't angling to turn out to be the long-lost dad of one of those Summer Bay delinquents.

Kochie is now practising playing dead for a future role as a corpse on City Homicide.

Gordon's Good To Go • 09 Sep 2007

Gordon's good to go
9 September 2007
Sunday Telegraph

Home and Away's Rachel Gordon agrees that her career has been dominated by strong, determined women.

"A lot of the time I tend to play strong women, which I really love," she says.

"I think that's because of my height. At 175 centimetres, I'm pretty tall for a woman in TV.

"I think with a lot of my characters I come across as a cold, hard bitch at the beginning, but then you get to like them in the end ... hopefully!"

"I've actually really enjoyed this role on Home and Away," she says. "It's been a lot of fun and very glamorous because the role's shiny on the outside but gritty underneath.

With actor husband Scott Johnson - whom she played opposite in Neighbours - Gordon is about to embark on a US adventure after securing a Green Card which will allow the couple to work in America.

"We'll see what happens, but first we're heading to New York for a holiday because we won the Green Card Lottery last year," she says.

Despite the impending trip Gordon, who finishes up with Home and Away in October, doubts that she could make a permanent move to the US.

Smart as well as sexy, Gordon also hopes her future will see her complete the psychology degree she began before taking up a career as an actress.

"I'd eventually like to finish that," she says.

"Acting and psychology are very useful to each other.

Sharni's boyfriend comes to visit • 05 Sep 2007

Home and Away's Sharni Vinson's LA Based, CSI: NY star AJ Buckley has come to visit Sharni in Sydney for a little while.

Vinson met Buckley on a recent trip to the US to celebrate her 24th birthday - and ended up accompanying him to a red carpet restaurant opening in Hollywood. "We just clicked so instantly and I felt this immediate surge of emotion - it was really quite bizarre."

Sharni wants to show her new beau, US actor AJ Buckley, the "real outback of Australia". "We are going to see some good animals, we are going to go to the zoo.'' "A kangaroo would be good, we are going to try to find some kangaroos...that are not on the Wakehurst Parkway.'' She also said the couple would be visiting Sydney's iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

"Right now I'm feeling like he's the total love of my life - it's actually quite hard to put into words," Vinson said.

Buckley anticipates his new relationship will have him on the Home and Away set "as much as possible'' as the loved-up pair try to negotiate the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship from other sides of the world.

"Sharni has no breaks coming up in her schedule so I'll be doing all the travelling,'' Buckley told Confidential. "This trip has been a total whirlwind but I'll be back in a couple of weeks and from then on as much as humanly possible. It's a wonderful thing that has happened between us and you just have to embrace it.''

Scott McGregor auditions for Home and Away • 26 Aug 2007

Scott is Being Tempted
26 August 2007
Sunday Herald Sun

THE possibility of an acting career could tempt popular model Scott McGregor away from the Temptation set.

McGregor has been part of the Temptation team since the show returned to Channel 9 two years ago.

The handsome model was invited to audition for Channel 7's enduring soap Home and Away last week.

The Home and Away casting call has come at an opportune time for McGregor, with Nine announcing during the week it is dropping Temptation.

The show is expected to be seen on air until October, when it will be dumped -- "rested", in Nine's language -- to make way for the Eddie McGuire hosted quiz Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

***

There are lots of pictures of him here. You'll probably recognise him.
And please note that he was invited to audition, it isn't certain if he has got any roles.

Simone McAullay Guest role on H&A • 25 Aug 2007

Home and Away's newest beauty, Simone McAullay filmed her first scenes as a guest role, under the direction of former Heelers and Home & Away cast member Danny Raco this week, just missed her former co-star Rachel Gordon, who finished her guest spot two weeks ago, before jetting off to New York to activate her husband's green card before hitting the US audition trail.

The Blue Heelers babes join a stellar cast of quality cameos in the last few months, that has included stints by Rodger Corser, Damian De Montemas, Myles Pollard, Luke Carrol and Chris Haywood. And Stingers star Peter Phelps was commissioned to direct the last fortnight of filming.

McAullay's character Viv, a rich sexy young housewife with a horse-racing powerbroker sterile husband, tries to use Furze's Ric Dalby to get pregnant. "Playing the vixen is much more up my alley than the good girl I was on Blue Heelers,'' she said. "When I heard about her - and her toy boy - I said that's fabulous, count me in. Should be more of it, I say.''

Nicholas Bishop new roles • 25 Aug 2007

LONDON is calling for Home and Away star Nicholas Bishop. He's auditioning for a number of roles in the UK. ONE-time Home & Away star Nicholas Bishop is about to follow the well-trod soapie actor route to London.

The actor, who was in Brisbane earlier this month filming a role in the thriller Punishment (it was lost in the hype surrounding Daybreakers and Nim's Island), says he has a few auditions lined up and is raring to go. "Yeah, I have a passport – I was born there," he told one Brisbanite, saying he'll be flying out from Sydney tomorrow.

Fortunately, Nick already has the superstar look down pat, thanks to a new set of designer sunnies he picked up in Brissie's super cool specs shop Optiko, forking out $500 for a custom-made pair to guarantee his look was one-of-a-kind.

Best Just hasn't time for Harry • 22 Aug 2007

It is taking Charlotte Best a lot longer to finish reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows than most kids her age.

Like every 13-year-old in the world, Best couldn't wait to get her hands on a copy of the highly anticipated final instalment of J.K. Rowling's novels. But she has to fit in reading about the boy wizard between schoolwork and her hectic filming schedule on Home and Away.

Best joined the cast this year as Annie Campbell, a young tomboy who has grown up with her brother (played by Lincoln Lewis) on her grandfather's farm. "Lincoln has become like my brother," she says. "We do a lot of things together and he misses his family in Queensland, too."

Best already has three brothers of her own, none of whom are actors. Before starting on Home and Away, Best studied drama after school. She was the envy of her friends when she won a role on the popular soap. Best has also appeared on Comedy Inc, in short films and school plays.

Aid for dialysis group • 18 Aug 2007

ACTOR Tim Campbell knows only too well what it means to be attached to a machine to stay alive - his father Graham had dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant.

So the Home and Away star jumped at the chance to help Manly grandmother Jacqui Devlin support renal patients and improve their quality of life. Ms Devlin has end-stage renal disease and needs either dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive.

But she is not concerned about herself. As NSW co-ordinator of Dialysis Escape Line Australia, Ms Devlin wants to help those on dialysis "regain their confidence to travel". She contacted Campbell when she heard there was a history of polycystic kidney disease in his family.

Campbell does not have the disease, and his father had a successful transplant last month, but he was happy to raise awareness about what he called the unpopular organ.

Campbell is doing his bit to recruit Home and Away stars for a charity dinner on October 20 at the Manly Pacific Hotel, organised by Ms Devlin to raise money for Dialysis Escape Line, which needs $14,300 for two reverse osmosis units.

Tickets cost $90 from Ms Devlin on 0419 496 386

Giving stardom your best shot - Jon Sivewright • 18 Aug 2007

Giving stardom your best shot

Jon Sivewright, who plays Tony Holden in Home and Away was lucky enough to get work straight after graduating from acting college. He started with some theatre work and minor theatre roles before being picked up by Home and Away.

A former fire fighter, Sivewright opted for a career change in acting after turning 36. He believes that being older than most other graduates gave him an advantage. "I do think I'm one of the lucky ones," he said. "I came out in an age group where actors have either persevered or faded out and transferred into other things. I was a 38 year-old rookie who didn't have to be paid too much and who could play older roles."

Taking a shot at a career in the industry is worthwhile for anyone with a passion for performing, according to Sivewright. "The worst thing that could happen is that you'll actually get a role," he said.

Ritchie's birthday the works • 15 Aug 2007

KATE Ritchie celebrated her 29th birthday yesterday - and yet again it was spent on the Home and Away set.

For the small-screen favourite it was another milestone, toasting her birthday for the 21st time alongside her fellow Summer Bay cast members.

The past year has been a big one for Ritchie, who won a gold and silver Logie, branched out to co-host It Takes Two with Grant Denyer and briefly co-hosted Nova's drive show with funnyman Akmal Saleh until her TV commitments forced her to quit.

She revealed her boyfriend, skate star Corbin Harris, had helped plan her "beautiful'' birthday weekend, which included a Harbour cruise, dinner at Potts Point restaurant Jimmi Liks with surprise guest Troy Cassar-Daley, and a trip to Taronga Zoo on Sunday.

It was back to the daily grind this week though, spending her birthday at Channel Seven's Epping studios before heading to her mum's for a home-cooked meal.

Lincoln's right at home on the set • 15 Aug 2007

A funny thing happened to Lincoln Lewis the other day. The vivacious teenager was walking along the street of his hometown, Brisbane, with his dad when he was asked for an autograph.

Home And Away's latest recruit says the encounter was noteworthy for two reasons: it was the first time he had been recognised by a fan and, so far, the only time his celebrity had eclipsed his old man's stardom.

As the son of rugby legend Wally Lewis, the young actor is used to autograph hunters approaching his family, but previously they had always wanted time with the sporting great.

"That's never happened to me before, especially in Queensland where dad is so well-known," he says. "It was really funny."

Lewis says he is close to his family and the hardest part about taking the role on the hit show was that he had to move out of home and settle in Sydney.

The move may have been made even more difficult for the teenager because of his father's ongoing health problems.

Wally, known as "The King", had brain surgery in February after suffering two seizures while presenting Nine's Brisbane sports news.

Also a talented sportsman, the younger Lewis says he flirted with the idea of following in his father's famous footsteps, but ultimately decided acting was his passion.

"I've played rugby league since I was in school but there came a point where I had to decide whether to focus on rugby or acting," he reveals. "I couldn't keep doing both. I can't turn up to work on the set covered with bruises."

Before scoring the role of bad boy Geoff Campbell, Lewis auditioned for other Summer Bay roles of Ric (which went to Mark Furze) and Drew (played by Bobby Morley).

But Home And Away isn't his first big gig. His first starring role was in the horror movie Voodoo Lagoon, alongside former Home and Away star Beau Brady, Neighbours star Natalie Blair and It Takes Two series one winner Erica Heynatz.

The film went straight to DVD, but it wasn't a completely wasted venture for 19-year-old Lewis- he got to do a love scene with Heynatz in the film. Not bad for his first major role.

Lewis is not the only member of his family in the entertainment industry; his brother, Mitchell, is an aspiring film-maker. The Lewis boys hope to work together on a film one day, Lincoln as the lead actor and Mitchell behind the camera. Lewis says there may even be a cameo in it for their old man. "I reckon he'd make a good actor," he laughs.

Jade McRae Video Clip stars Bobby Morley • 15 Aug 2007

The new clip of Jade McRae's new song In the Basement which stars Bobby Morley in the video clip. Bobby plays her love interest.

You can watch the video clip and also an interview with Jade, talking about new single for the Today Show which also mentions working with Bobby Morley. Watch it here.

Jade and Bobby's Youtube kiss
Daily Telegraph

LEAKED video footage of a raunchy kiss beteen R&B babe Jade MacRae and Home and Away star Bobby Morley had fans of the showbiz duo in a frenzy when it was posted on YouTube yesterday.

The intimate lip-lock between the It Takes Two duo prompted speculation the pair had finally given in to their on screen chemistry, but the scenes were later revealed to be unused takes from the video for MacRae's latest single, In The Basement.

In the clip - which premiered on Nine's Today show yesterday - Morley plays the sexy singer's love interest.

But as the leaked snogging snippet did not make the the final cut in the clip and was not authorized by MacRae's label Roadshow, her company moved quickly to have the provocative pash removed. Confidential received several emails from excited fans inquiring about the clip's authenticity as online hype began to build yesterday. But by 5.30pm, Roadshow had successfully had the footage pulled down.

Despite her sizzling sucking face show, MacRae is in a long term relationship with her manager, Tim Purcell. And believe it or not, the clip's kissing scene was actually his suggestion. "Bobby is actually a great mate of mine and to be perfectly honest the kiss was my idea,'' he said. "The only thing was that I didn't realise they would have to do it 15 times. "It was a really slow, passionate kiss, and by about the fifth time I was over it,'' Purcell said.

Tammin's US Break • 12 Aug 2007

TWO years of slogging it out on the Hollywood audition circuit has paid off for former Home And Away actor Tammin Sursok, who has landed a regular role on US soap The Young And The Restless.

Sursok recently signed on to play teenager Colleen Carlton on the show for three years. In the same week, she landed small parts in two Hollywood films: Crossing Over, with Harrison Ford and Sean Penn, and Albino Farm.

"I booked three jobs in a week for some reason," Sursok told The Sunday Telegraph from the Los Angeles set of the show.

"I don't know what was going on but something was going my way. I was just very lucky. The whole thing is you get out here and audition, audition, audition and hopefully something sticks."

Sursok played lovable Dani Sutherland on Home And Away for four years, winning the most popular new talent Logie in 2001.

The US soap follows two wealthy families in the cosmetics industry, the Newmans and the Abbotts; Sursok's not-so-lovable character is the niece of Abbott family patriarch Jack.

"I come in as a good girl but then I start getting into a bit of scandal," Sursok explained. "I fall in love with my teacher and then I have an affair with one of the main guys."

Sursok won't be seen on the show locally, which screens on Foxtel, until March.

Jodi talks about her pole dancing costumes • 11 Aug 2007

Home and Away babe Jodi Gordon looked sensational in her raunchy outfits as a pole dancer – but the Aussie reveals that she dreaded wearing some of the costumes!

Her wildchild character Martha secretly gets a job as a poledancer in the Five soap. It all goes pretty well – until her fiancé comes into the club on his stag do and sees her performing!

“The outfits were tiny,” Jodi told Sun online. “The first time they handed one to me, I was, like, ‘Where is the rest of it?’” “But it was fun. I was quite embarrassed by the costumes and people used to tease me a bit on the set. “I had a Catwoman suit with a mask and lots of little Kylie Minogue numbers with disco glitter and teeny shorts. And a little construction girl costume!”

Despite looking sensational, the Aussie stunner reveals that she worries about staying skinny in such a competitive business. “There is always pressure to be thin if you are a model or if you are on television. There is so much focus on the visual for young girls,” she said. “But it’s about knowing your limits and looking after yourself.”

As an 18-year-old, she travelled all over the world with her modelling career. “There’s no way I’d let my kids do it,” she laughed. “But my mum came on a trip to Japan with me and she could see that I knew how to take care of myself and my agency were looking after me so it was all cool.”

But Jodi fears that the drive for ultra-skinny models is unhealthy.“People in fashion are really into that babydoll look. And the girls are just getting younger and younger.“I hate that size zero look. I don't think it's attractive."

Jessica Tovey on cover of Creme Magazine • 08 Aug 2007

Home and Away star Jessica Tovey is on the cover of this months's New Zealand teen magazine, Creme

"ess always wanted to be a famous actress and started working her way up when she was just six-years-old. "I was just doing small acting classes with my primary school after class," she says. "I loved it so when they stopped I went to ATYP (Australian Theatre for Young People) for more acting classes. Pretty much I haven't even gone two months without being in a play or doing classes. I absolutely love acting. I get unhappy when I'm not doing something!"

She started landing small parts after she got an agent - she decided it was time to get serious! It was that agent who eventually got her the part on Home and Away "I got an agent at the beginning of Year 12. That was important because they are the ones who get you an audition. Home and Away asked me to audition for this new character, and after three rounds they told me I got the part!"

It was on the set of Home and Away that she met her boyf, Bobby Morley who plays Drew on the show! Bobby started on the show after Jess, so when he joined the cast she made friends with him and helped him settle in. On the weekends she showed him round her fave parts of town. At the time she was a familiar face, but Drew's scenes hadn't been on TV yet. "I was showing Bobby around and these girls chased us into a café - I think he got the fright of his life, seeing what he was in for in two months time! It was a bit of a wake-up call!"

McGranger still taking no Prisoner • 08 Aug 2007

McGranger still taking no Prisoner
8 August 2007
Herald-Sun

LET'S get this straight: Lynne McGranger was never on Prisoner.

The Home and Away star says fans often remark how much they loved her work on the cult 1980s drama about a women's prison. "For some reason people seem to think I was on it," she says. "I am probably the only Australian actress over 40 who was not on Prisoner.

"It was a good show, but I wasn't on it. I actually hadn't done much TV work before Home and Away."

One of McGranger's co-stars who was on Prisoner is Home and Away stalwart Ray Meagher, aka Alf "stone the flaming crows" Stewart.

Meagher and the Gold Logie-winning Kate Ritchie are the only actors to have been with Home and Away since it first aired 20 years ago.

"I am third in line to the crown," McGranger says. "I just need to get rid of Ray and Kate and I am set." Like Ritchie, Home and Away was McGranger's big break.

But where Ritchie started on the soap as an adorable child star, McGranger was a mother of one in her 30s playing a crazed alcoholic.

Before Home and Away she says her main acting experience had been on stage performing Shakespeare for community theatre.

People thought she was mad when she gave up teaching to seriously pursue acting in her late 20s.

So she was thrilled when offered a guest role on the soap in 1992 and even more excited when it became a full-time gig.

McGranger, who was living in Melbourne at the time, took the job in Sydney after convincing her husband(pictured with Lynne) to quit his job so that he could look after their baby daughter.

"He was happy to become a full-time house husband and still is," McGranger says.

"He doesn't have dinner on the table when I get home, though, because he's a terrible cook."

Her daughter, now a teenager, is also proving to be a talented actor.

McGranger is planning to return to the stage soon and will star in Honey, a play based loosely on Smokey Joe's Cafe and written by former A Country Practice star Lorrae Desmond.

Isabel Lucas Interview • 01 Aug 2007

Star quality Isabel Lucas hair colour is not the only change the young starlet has made recently, with plans for the brunette to star in a Hollywood film.

Isabel left Cairns in 2003, while she was still at high school, after being "discovered" by agent Sharron Meissner in Port Douglas.

"My partner and I were on a much deserved holiday in Port Douglas, Meissner says. "On our first day out and about we were at the local markets and Isabel walked right by us. "I followed her around for a few minutes to get a closer look at her. She was breathtaking in a way that is hard to explain.

"She is not just a pretty face - she will always be one of those ageless beauties, in the sense her look will never date, like Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn."

Since leaving Summer Bay, Isabel has relocated from Sydney to Melbourne to take up acting courses at the Victorian College of the Arts and has started dating Australian singer songwriter George Byrne.

Just months after returning from Africa, Daybreakers, starring Sam Neil, Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe, is set to make a huge difference in Isabel s life. "The genre is bordering on horror, she says. "An unknown plague has transformed the world s population into vampires and vampires have to capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out.

Photos of Paul, Chris & Sharni on their trip to LA • 27 Jul 2007

As you've probably already read on the site in the last few days/weeks, Paul O'Brien and Sharni Vinson headed over to LA on their two week production break along with one of Home and Away's 1st assistant directors Liam. While they were in LA they met up with former cast member Chris Hemsworth.

A HUGE thanks to Janneke for sending in some wonderful photos of Paul, Chris, Sharni and Liam in LA which were taken by Paul.

Pics in the gallery include the boys in the pool on a very hot day at the Hard Rock Cafe and the guys attending a baseball game (Yankees vs Phillies). Paul was invited to the Playboy mansion and had a great time hanging in the Zoo area looking for monkeys, and checking out the scenery. He also met up with Sharni and her friend and hit the beach, hired bikes and had lunch in L.A. The rest of the photos are of Paul out and about in LA

Chris Hemsworth scores new role • 27 Jul 2007

From Home & Away to LA
Source: Sydney Confidential

It's one of those overnight success stories you hear about in Hollywood, but for former Home & Away heartthrob Chris Hemsworth, it's the reel deal of a lifetime.

The popular TV personality has made the leap from small screen to Tinseltown in just two months, landing his first role as the leading man in a new revenge thriller.

While seasoned stars like Naomi Watts toiled for 20 years for their big break, Hemsworth hit the audition circuit just 8 weeks ago, confirming his first shot at international fame yesterday.

The talented 23-year-old will play a young man caught up in an illegal operation in The Cache, opposite actor Sean Bean slated as the bad guy.

Hemsworth, who played Kym Hyde in the Summer Bay soap for three years, only set his sights on a living in Los Angeles late last year.

His Sydney manager Mark Morrissey introduced his young charge to LA agents two months ago, with the rest quickly history.

With visas and Actors' Equity work permits given the greenlight yesterday, the young hunk is now in pre-production with the flick's director Steve Anderson.

Hemsworth's popular soap character only left our TV screens in May, leaving a trail of teenage fans heartbroken.

His ex-girlfriend and one-time castmate Isabel Lucas had also headed to La La Land, but has not attracted the same attention as her former beau.

A quick step on the Dancing With The Stars stage last year also helped to broaden his appeal nationally, before the bright lights of Hollywood beckoned.

Kate Ritchie Interview • 26 Jul 2007

Kate Ritchie has played Home And Away's Sally Fletcher-Saunders on Five for the last 20 years, since she was eight years old. The Aussie soapstar reveals what it was like growing up on TV, and talks about her most demanding storylines.

When we meet, she's been in Britain for four days and despite the jetlag insists she's having a whale of a time pottering around London. Although she's sat through a whole day of interviews, Kate is still chirpy and chatty, and is getting nostalgic looking back at her two decades in Summer Bay.

"Growing up on a television show, it's important to hang out with kids at school and talk about normal things. I like to think that's why I've turned out so well balanced because I didn't give up all that stuff to be a child star."

And far from being the usual precocious child actress flaunting her fame, Kate preferred to keep a low profile at school. "I wasn't ever one of those kids who got to school and talked about it. I didn't want to show off about it, in fact I was a little bit embarrassed," she explains. "You know what it's like at school, you don't want to be different from the other kids, so I talked it down a bit."

Kate has done all of her growing up on screen - from gawky kid through insecure teenager to confident woman. It's not something many people go through.

"It's a very unique experience, but for me it was completely normal. I can't really remember what life was like before Home And Away," she chuckles, before admitting that at times it was very difficult, particularly through adolescence.

Charlotte Best from the Central Coast • 21 Jul 2007

At her Best in front of the camera
11 July 2007
Central Coast Express

A LOVE of performing has led a former Central Coast youngster to the high pressure world of the TV soapie.

Charlotte Best, 13, is the newest face on Channel 7's long-running Home and Away.

Before moving to Sydney with her family several years ago, she lived at Point Frederick and attended Central Coast Grammar School.

She started her rise to stardom on the coast doing eisteddfods and talent searches as a singer and dancer, winning the Central Coast Star Talent Quest three times.

She attends Brent St Talent Development High School in Sydney where she combines her love of performing arts with her academic studies. To land her role on Home and Away Charlotte had to endure three auditions, but has settled in well to life in front of TV cameras. "I was so excited to start, they're all lovely people on the show," she said. "It's the experience and doing what I love, it's fantastic, amazing."

The only downside to the show is due to the long hours she misses her family and friends. "I don't get to see my family a lot, I've usually left by the time they get up," she said.

Charlotte's character on the show is country girl Annie, 14. "She's a strong character, a bit of a funny one," Charlotte said. "She's grown up with all boys and I have four brothers so we're a bit the same, she's a tomboy but has a girly side too," she said.

Sharni to leave? • 15 Jul 2007

Is star leaving Home?
15 July 2007
Sunday Herald Sun

COULD Home and Away star Sharni Vinson be planning to say "seeya" to Summer Bay?

The vibrant actor flew to Los Angeles this week for a busy round of "meet and greets".

But it was not all business for the actor and trained dancer who plays Cassie Turner on the sand-and-sun soap.

Vinson was seen out and about at various LA hot spots with her new bloke A.J. Buckley.

Dublin-born Buckley had a recurring role on CSI:NY and has signed with the cult hit series Entourage.

While in LA, Vinson met with Ed Hardy boss Christian Audigier, who signed her as an ambassador for the red-hot brand.

Expect to see Vinson in plenty of Ed Hardy gear.

She was seen leaving the company's headquarters after her Audigier meeting with three boxs of tops, T-shirts and dresses.

Vinson, who turns 24 on Sunday, plans to celebrate her birthday in Las Vegas before heading back to the set of Home and Away.

Celebrities show it takes two to canoodle
15 July 2007

HOME and Away lovebirds Jessica Tovey and Bobby Morley left little doubt they were totally smitten with each other at the private afterparty for the grand final of It Takes Two on Tuesday evening.

The two spent much of the party at the Blue Diamond bar in the city entwined and did not seem to give two hoots who saw their various passionate exchanges.

Morley was one of the better celebrity performers on It Takes Two.

Chris Sadrinna axed? • 14 Jul 2007

5 July 2007, Sydney Confidential

Home and Away actor Chris Sadrinna whos plays Brad Armstrong has reportedly been axed from the show

Confidential sources say Sadrinna was told last week that his role on the show would end within months - a decision that has apparently staggered the 32-year-old.

"It wasn't his choice to go, the producers made the decision for him. He didn't want to go, he was just told 'that's it','' one spy said yesterday.

A Seven spokeswoman declined to comment when contacted yesterday.

Indiana and Lincoln together?

Soapie youngsters a match made in Ikea
1 July 2007
Sunday Telegraph

HOME and Away actors, Indiana Evans and footy hero Wally Lewis's son Lincoln Lewis, looked like a very loving off-screen couple when they were spotted in the midst of cocooning at Ikea.

The loved-up duo were spending time sourcing tea lights in the homewares haven. You know what that means: it's definitely on.

In the past, Evans, who celebrated her 17th birthday recently, has dated another Home and Away co-star heartthrob Rhys Wakefield.

However, 20-year-old Lewis, who moved from Queensland to Sydney's northern beaches after joining the long-running soapie, might be a refreshing change of pace for Evans.

So what were the couple doing at homewares hub, Ikea? It's surely too soon to move in together?

Perhaps they were preparing to host a joint dinner party? Cocooning heaven
